Audacious in Pink

The identification of the beads start from the bead in the centre, moving upwards, with measurement for some of the bigger beads, with metal beads named last.

I like the dusty pink gemstone rhodonite with its black veins of manganese oxide giving it added character and had collected the ones in this necklace many years ago. I made a necklace for myself with some of it back then, with dalmatian jasper, but I didn’t quite take to the necklace that much!
This time when I started working with it for a necklace for Manik, I decide I would pair pink with pink, but the translucent pink of rose quartz. This seemed like a good idea, but the rose quartz barrels that I started off with did not work. Then I visualised rose quartz discs instead, in my mind’s eye and was thrilled to find that I had these smaller irregular shaped pieces of rose quartz in my collection. The iterations then involved finding the right placement of the two types of stones, as well as the right pieces of rose quartz. I was pleased with the final effect of this lively and vibrant necklace, contrasting the stronger pink of the veined rhodonite with the paler pink of the rose quartz pieces.
We often associate the colour ‘pink’ with being ‘pretty’, but this is a bold necklace, and I am naming it Audacious in Pink!
Audacious in Pink would work well with strong colours like charcoal, navy, black, I feel, but can be tried out with other shades too. A reminder however, that this is a heavier necklace at 189 gm.
