Hush
A lovely long necklace of micro-faceted lapis gemstone beads which glow gently, together with smokey citrine melons and silver beads make up this timelessly elegant, versatile piece of jewellery. For more info on the necklace, please click on Details, and if interested in my musings, please go to Story.
The identification of the beads starts from the bead in the centre, moving upwards, with measurement for some of the bigger beads, with metal beads named last.

This is one of the Manik necklaces using smaller beads, but I really love it! The 9.5 mm micro-faceted lapis lazuli beads give off a gentle glow when worn; really lovely…! Lapis has become a very expensive gemstone now, but I am pleased to say that these ones were acquired a long time ago!
I ‘pair’ a lot of my blues with greens or other blues, but I decided that for this necklace I would finally use these lovely smokey citrine melons which I had been hoarding for some time. I wanted to keep it simple, but wanted to add in silver beads, and after rummaging around in my bead trolley, settled on these Balinese silver beads which look like lanterns. The openwork on the silver beads help to balance the denseness of the lapis beads. The granulated silver bead caps for the smokey citrine melons are the icing on the cake!
When I showed this necklace to a bead lover friend she exclaimed that this was a versatile necklace and could be easily worn. I thought of calling it Versatile, but on second thoughts, what struck me was that this is a ‘quiet’ necklace – it’s elegant, it doesn’t ‘shout’, it just is. So, I am calling it Hush. You could wear Hush with just about any colour, I feel, even black (I placed it against black, and it went well), because the melons and the silver lighten up the deep blue of the lapis! Enjoy!
