Over many years, I collected beads from Bali, Bangkok, and Beijing to Hanoi and Helsinki, from Kathmandu and Kuching to London, New York, and of course Singapore. I looked for and acquired a myriad of different kinds of beads. With these, I design one-off necklaces that celebrate the richness and beauty of this universal aesthetic, composing unique handmade jewellery shaped by place, material, memory and a design premise. My family, often an ally in my bead odyssey, then came forth to help bring Manik to fruition.
