Snowflakes
The pairing of raw-looking double-pointed rock crystal nuggets with bigger diamond shaped silver beads formed from intricately swirling whorls in this short 46 cm necklace create an exciting and refined piece of jewellery. The identification of the beads starts from the bead in the centre, moving upwards, with measurement for some of the bigger beads, with metal beads named last.

For some years, I was rather at a loss as to how to design with the horizontally drilled double-pointed rock crystal pieces that I had acquired from Mr L. I liked their luminosity and that they looked ‘different’, but the shape was also challenging design-wise!
Then I looked through my collection of silver beads and became excited when I spotted the bigger intricate diamond-shaped Balinese silver beads formed from swirling whorls. It was a winning combination! I love the contrast between the natural organic texture of the rock crystal pieces and the sculpted elegance of the silver whorls. At the same time, the pointed ends of all the beads converge, creating a delightful, graceful symmetry. I further added small, bright silver nuggets as spacers.
“Snowflakes!”, N proclaimed, and she was right – the necklace forms a graceful pattern, evoking the sparkling geometry of snowflakes, lovely! And so, Snowflakes it is named. This is a statement piece that will serve both as elegant evening wear and as refined everyday wear! I think it will go well with a range of colours, but probably most strikingly with deeper, stronger colours including midnight blue, steel grey, and emerald green. Enjoy!
