& Thin
Thin’ is one half of a pair of complementary necklaces (with ‘Through Thick’) that celebrate connection and shared journeys, involving the rich tones of faceted red agate, rose quartz and haematoid quartz. For more info on the necklace, please click on Details, and if interested in my musings, please go to Story.
The identification of the beads starts from the bead in the centre, moving upwards, with measurement for some of the bigger beads, with metal beads named last.

In working on the inner necklace that could be worn either as a companion to “Through Thick”, or on its own, I decided that I would keep to the same gemstone beads, but in smaller sizes. Fortunately, I found smaller rose quartz rounds, faceted red agate in round and spool shape; the cloudy, swirly orange haematoid quartz worked very well too. I wanted this to feel ‘spare’, and so the Japanese gold-coloured metal tubes in different lengths, were just what I needed!
I was thrilled that the various clusters of gemstone bads are all different in design and yet feel compatible and connected. This necklace works wonderfully with its ‘thicker’ companion of course, but equally delightful on its own, especially for someone who might favour a more delicate, refined look that is also rich and harmonious!
When Y and I were talking about the two yet unnamed necklaces she referred to them as ‘the thick one’ and ‘the thin one’. It just seemed so right to name the pair as “Through Thick”, and “& Thin”! And so, this is “& Thin” & Thin would go well with a range of colours including nuetrals like a beige, or light grey, but would also work with richer tones such as a deep green or a
purplish pink. Experiment and have fun!
