The identification of the beads starts from the bead in the centre, moving upwards, with measurement for some of the bigger beads, with metal beads named last.

I was excited when Mr L showed me the pale lilac amethyst spools because I did not have amethyst in this colour, and in this shape! I did not hesitate for a moment to make them mine. And quite soon after they went home with me, I started designing with them because I had quite a clear idea of how they would work! 

I have these other deep violet faceted amethyst rounds in different sizes that I had always wanted to design with but could not find the right pairing. The lilac spools were just the perfect match. 

And so here it is, Crystal Cascade, as I am calling this necklace, pairs the elongated spool-shaped amethyst in a delicate translucent lilac with the rich faceted amethyst in deep violet hues. The interplay between the light-filled clarity of the lilac spools and the luminous depth of the darker faceted beads creates a beautiful rhythm throughout the necklace. Gold spacers lend warmth and refinement. Elegant and quietly dramatic, the necklace has a sophisticated glow that shifts beautifully in the light. 

I really love this design – Crystal Cascade has a very distinctive visual character – the contrast between the airy translucence and the saturated amethyst gives it a strong identity. And yet, so elegantly wearable! 

Crystal Cascade would be compatible with a range of colours – a softer palette of cream and beige certainly, but the faceted surface of the violet amethyst also allows it to work with deeper tones such as olive, navy, and brights like a saffron yellow. Experiment and enjoy!
