Luminous
The gemstone rose quartz, in various shapes, are paired with golden rutilated quartz beads in this short 43 cm long, one of a kind necklace that conveys a warm glow. For more info on the necklace, please click on Details, and if interested in my musings, please go to Story.
The identification of the beads starts from the bead in the centre, moving upwards, with measurement for some of the bigger beads, with metal beads named last.

The lovely rose quartz nuggets and the thick faceted discs are the last ones in my collection, and I wanted to give them a good send-off! I set out to design a unique short necklace that would be versatile and would be suitable for both day and evening wear. Leaning towards a design that would convey ‘warmth’ rather than ‘coolness’, I brought out my round golden rutilated quartz gemstone beads; they look like golden rays caught in small globes!
The design evolved quite smoothly, though, as can happen in gemstone beads, the tones of the various rutilated quartz beads differed, and I spent time picking out the lighter ones where the rutiles stood out more prominently, making for an overall lighter feel to the design. I then hesitated over two gold-coloured metal spacers, but in the end settled for the brighter gold.
The necklace, with its soft pink and light gold gives off a gentle, elegant glow, and so I am calling it Luminous. It would be a great piece of jewellery for an off-shoulder evening gown in a soft pinkish gold, but it would work too for stronger colours, including black, charcoal, or dark navy. You could also wear it inside a white shirt, or a cream shirtdress for day!
