One Year On (NEW)
One Year On feels calm, tranquil and elegant in its misty shades of blue and lavender chalcedony, its soft translucence giving the impression of colour seen through water. Bright silver pods, symbolising growth, mark this piece as a contemplative reflection on a first year… For someone drawn to soft, atmospheric tones and pieces that feel thoughtful and quietly individual. A few days back it struck me that I wanted to design a necklace to mark our milestone of turning one year. At the same time, the blue chalcedony came to mind - I liked it a lot when I first got it but the first year of building the shop, maintaining the shop, creating content, photography, admin work, SEO work meant that I didn't get round to it...
It feels right to finally use them for a necklace marking the first year. A one-of-a kind anniversary piece.
I was delighted to find that I had a batch of 15 mm round purple chalcedony beads that I had forgotten about! This happens when you have too many beads! The purple chalcedony, more of a lavender colour, has the same watery quality as the blue, making it seem like you are looking at the beads through water. I really love this element of the chalcedony beads, and wanted not to dilute them with other beads, although I had originally thought of inviting some moonstone beads to the design table. Fortunately, I had the chalcedony in two shapes, and this eased the design process. I brought in various bright silver spacers and discs, and my must have were the two pairs of bright silver pod-shaped beads!
58 cm/23" long, One Year On is soothing, tranquil and elegant in their misty shades of blue and lavender, their soft translucence giving the impression of colour seen through water. Bright silver accents bring light and liveliness, while the silver pods, symbolising growth, mark this piece as a contemplative reflection on a first year and what lies ahead… For someone who is looking for a quiet statement piece of jewellery – something that draws attention in an understated way. For those drawn to soft, atmospheric tones and pieces that feel thoughtful, soothing and quietly individual.
One Year On will certainly work with pastel outfits but it will go very well too with stronger and deeper colours such as navy, black, jungle green. Try it and see!
