I have always been attracted to the dreamy Picasso jasper with their abstract art-like design, but my earlier attempts to design with it were not satisfactory. I once tried designing these Picasso barrel shaped beads and the smaller oblate discs that you see here with big silver oblate discs but the brightness overwhelmed the muteness of the Picassos. Then recently, rummaging around, I spotted this small bag of big round agate that I had almost forgotten I had. I then thought of the greyish labradorite that I had bought recently in Bangkok. I added to it smaller sterling silver discs and silver spacers and liked the overall effect. It is dreamily muted, the bigger agate beads let light through, while you may catch the labradorescence (as the bead is turned, you may see flashes of blue and possibly other colours across the surface) of the grey labradorites from time to time. And the silver discs brighten, but do not overpower. I think I surprised myself with this design, as it is quite unlike anything I have done before, and I am really pleased with that!
I am calling this necklace Painterly. This would work quite well both with pastels, and stronger colours like black, navy etc, but possibly not brights.
