Pale Cadence (NEW)
Rounded forms of baroque pearls, various jaspers, natural agate, and silver bits cascade in an easy rhythm, with soft variations in texture and shape lending the necklace spontaneity and ease. This is a composition that feels relaxed and organic and will appeal to those who appreciate soft palettes and designs where simplicity is accompanied by thoughtful detail. This necklace came about because I was rifling through my tubs of pastel coloured gemstone beads, and wondered what it would be like to cluster the pale colours together. Then sat down to start designing…
I kept the design intentionally simple, mixing slightly different sizes in the beads, choosing beads that are more characterful than very polished, like the creamy mother of pearl beads with some golden streaks, the mottled lemon jasper and the baroque pearls that are a little ridged etc. I wanted an organic feel to the design. I then decided to spread out the clusters using silver bits rather than round silver beads or more rigid lengtheners. I loved the final design. I only tweaked it when my niece Y said that the clusters needed more ‘space’; I added more silver bits.
And so you have it - rounded forms cascade in an easy rhythm, with soft variations in texture and shape lending the necklace spontaneity and ease. Baroque pearls, mother-of-pearl, lemon jasper, river jasper and natural agate with irregular silver bits create a composition that feels relaxed rather than formal, quietly organic, with subtle shifts in tone, moving from cream to soft beige to muted celadon in harmony.
I am calling it A Pale Cadence. I think it would go with quite a range of colours from the pastels to the darks, and even some brights. This would suit someone drawn to understated pieces with subtle structure. This necklace offers calmness without losing presence. It will appeal to those who appreciate soft palettes, relaxed styling and designs where simplicity is shaped by thoughtful detail. Enjoy wearing it!
