Voila (NEW)
I collected the agate beads in this piece over many years and eventually composed this soothing palette of milky white, swirly cream, and butterscotch yellow, in varied shapes. the clean lines and the tonal gradience of the necklace make it effortlessly elegant, easily wearable, and versatile. Over the years, I collected various interesting agate beads in pale, neutral colours, and would take them out to admire them from time to time, the slim oval bicones, the pebbles, the rectangular columns in hazy beiges and greys.
When it came to designing a necklace with it, I had a clear idea that I would match them with some interesting eye agate. After a whole day of trying to realise my idea fruitlessly, I gave up in frustration. A few days later, I went back to it, abandoned the notion of using the eye agate, found another bag of agate in different shapes and started to get hopeful. The necklace then fell into place, and I decided that I would use one type of silver spacer throughout the necklace and so I settled on these oblate patterned Thai silver spacers with a plain rim. I love the colour palette, and the varied bead shapes makes the necklace lively, while the patterned silver spacers add contrast.
I felt triumphant when I finally found
satisfaction with this design, and so I am calling it Voila! as in “here it is”,the French phrase that denotes satisfaction. Voila is elegant, yet relaxed, and offers a calm and neutral colour palette that pairs beautifully with everyday wear. The milky white, swirly cream, butterscotch yellow, hazy beige and misty gray of Voila! would show off best
when contrasted with strong colours, I feel, including black, navy, charcoal,
cinnabar, plum etc. Enjoy!
