The identification of the beads starts from the bead in the centre, moving upwards, with measurement for some of the bigger beads, with metal beads named last.

I had always wanted my older, sky blue, untreated turquoise and my newer lake blue tablets with matrix, to work together, and when I was working on my capsule of A Study in Scale of four necklaces of lighter, smaller scale beads, these two immediately came to mind…

I wanted to pair them with some twisty green fluorite tubes, but the three ‘protagonists’ could not get along with each other. So, I had to set aside the fluorite tubes, and in came the malachite which I have in rounds and tubes. It’s always helpful to have the same bead type in different shapes!

The blues of the turquoise, the streaks of brown, the verdant green malachite came together serenely, suggesting a natural landscape.  As the necklace took shape, the malachite tubes seemed to point the way ahead, while the veined turquoise hinted that even the most promising paths are seldom without their challenges.
And so, I name this necklace Trails, for both the physical routes we travel,and the metaphorical journeys we each take in life…

The necklace feels lively, yet composed,dynamic yet serene. For someone who would like a necklace in a soothing tonal palette in blue and green, one that has visual presence, yet feels mellifluous.
Trails would certainly go well with various shades of blues and greens butwould also work with pastels and darker tones too. Experiment and enjoy!
