Simplicity
This 50 cm long necklace brings together celadon-coloured serpentine tiles and faceted light citrine in a simple design. For more info on the necklace, please click on Details, and if interested in my musings, please go to Story.
The identification of the beads starts from the bead in the centre, moving upwards, with measurement for some of the bigger beads, with metal beads named last.

In my eagerness to collect a new type of bead, I sometimes overlook the practicality of designing with that bead. These pale green big serpentine tiles is one example – I do like tabular beads, but they can also be challenging because you would have to find shapes that would work with the tablets and lie flat. Bigger round beads are out of the question.
And so it was with these serpentine tiles – I love this palest shade of green, the smoothness of the tiles, but it was not easy trying to find other beads that could complement them and not be overwhelmed by them. I went through my various tubs of beads until I came across the faceted light citrine that you see here. They came from Mumbai Se, an emporium of lovely Indian goods that was in Palais Renaissance in Orchard Road for a few years before it sadly closed. Eureka!
I decided to keep it very simple, alternating the serpentine tiles with the faceted light citrine nuggets, and adding gold metal spacers from France to brighten up the whole.
I am calling it Simplicity, and I think it is an easy choice on a day when you feel like wearing something contemporary, with clean lines, and that is not too complicated. You could wear it on skin, or over round/square/V neckline. Stronger colours would show it off better than pastels or neutrals.
